ASE Group Sets a New World Record for the Highest Temperature Liquid Metal Pump – 2082 Celsius

June 23, 2021 | Asegun Henry

Congratulations to Caleb on setting a new world record for pumping liquid metal. The new paper, published in Energy, describes a pump for liquid silicon that reached as high as 2082C. This sets the new world record much higher than the previous record of 1400C, and is a critical step along the path of demonstrating the components needed for the thermal energy grid storage (TEGS) system the group is developing.
